Textile Wall Art

Since January 2019 I have returned to hand stitching, inspired by 25 million stitches a stitch for each refugee. Each piece is done with a running stitch using Sashiko thread.

In July 2020 I was inspired by Liz Kettle’s “Stitch Meditation” project which consists of 4″ squares for me, pieced fabrics and hand-stitched. I love stitching in the evening, it is how I “watch” TV. Just designing what I will stitch is refreshing and invigorating and leads me into a peaceful place.

My textile art is made by painting, Japanese wax resist (Roketsu-zome), hand-printed, hand-dyed, pieced fabrics, sashiko, embroidered, hand appliqué, hand quilted, machine-stitched, and quilted.
