Fun! That is how I describe painting scarves. I have managed to keep it that way even having painted over 3000 to date. Each being different! Over the years I have developed a style reminiscent of sumi-e on my scarves. I would describe it as dancing on silk
I paint on several silk fabrics, crepe de chine 14mm, flat crepe 10mm, and silk chiffon 8mm. My scarves are hand washable with cold water and hair shampoo. Did you know that silk is a protein based fiber and shampoo will feed it and plump it up? You merely wash, rinse, wrap your scarf in a towel, squeeze dry and hang, ironing as needed on silk setting.
As an artist at Kona Village Resort for 19 years I sold the majority of my scarves there.
